FMCSA BOC-3 Filing Help
Finding a carrier
US DOT Number
Docket Number
This alphanumeric value is assigned to motor carriers engaging in interstate or foreign operations. It consists of the prefix and the numbers that are issued sequentially as carriers are registered in the system.
The docket number is found in the Licensing and Insurance (L&I) database of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
Note: Prior to January 1, 1996, the docket numbers were assigned by the Interstate Commerce by the Commission (ICC).
Most numbers are prefixed by "MC", which represents motor carrier.
Other prefixes are "MX" for a motor carrier that is owned or controlled by a person of Mexican nationality or domiciled in Mexico, and "FF", for a freight forwarder.
If your entry retrieves no matches from the database, or if it retrieves more than one match, please check your entry for errors or open the Carrier Search page to perform a more comprehensive search, and then return to this screen.
If your search retrieves only one match, you may file for that carrier by pressing 'Yes' on the detail
screen.
If this is not the carrier you want, press 'No' to return to the selection screen.
