All current registration functionality-including new applications in URS, changes and filings via L&I (Public), and registration options in the FMCSA Portal-will be permanently retired on Thursday, May 14, at 8:00 PM ET. ***Upcoming Changes and Login.gov***

Important Notice: New Login Requirements Effective December 2024

Effective December 2024, all insurance companies, financial institutions, and BOC-3 Blanket Agents using the Licensing and Insurance Public website will be required to use Login.gov for:

  • Financial responsibility filings
  • Form BOC-3 submissions

Action Required to Prevent Service Interruptions:

  1. Main Filer account holders will be required to set up both an FMCSA Portal account and a Login.gov account.
    • November 2024: FMCSA Portal account setup instructions will be available on the FMCSA Registration website
    • December 2024:
      1. FMCSA Portal registration opens, and
      2. filers will no longer be able to use their current FMCSA Licensing and Insurance Public website username and password to access their e-Filer account page
  2. Main Filer account holders should begin communicating this information with their Sub Filer account holders.

FMCSA FORMS SUBMITTAL

FMCSA recommends all mail (including forms) be submitted electronically via either of the below methods:

Web Form: https://ask.fmcsa.dot.gov/; or

Fax: (202) 366-3477

Using one of these methods will significantly reduce the application processing time. For Registration and Licensing forms that are submitted via the web form, the applicant will receive a confirmation number by email.

The Carrier Search option provides access to information about interstate for hire carriers who have been granted authority or who have applications pending. The information may be displayed or printed in a report.
