Using the help pages

The online help is intended to guide you through the application for a US DOT number.

Click the question mark on the page in order to display the online help file.

Table of Contents

The help pages are designed to display the table of contents in the left panel and the individual topics in the right panel.  You can click on any topic in the table of contents to open the page you want.

Click Hide in the upper right corner of the help page (the right  panel) to conceal the table of contents if you only want to see the discussion of the topic.  Click Show to display the table of contents as well as the topic.

These two actions alternate: one is always visible when you select the opposite choice.

Browse Sequences

The double arrows in the upper right corner next to Show or Hide indicate that the page is part of a browse sequence.  Browse sequences allow you to see related pages in a logical progression.  Click the forward arrows to open the next page in the sequence, or click the backward arrows to return to the previous page.

Links jump directly to another window containing more information about a topic.  Links are written in blue and are underlined.  [Once you have clicked a link the color changes to purple.]

REMINDER:

If you have a page open in the system and want to return to the previous page, please click BACK on the screen, and not on the browser.
